OTS (On a trop supporté) movement in Cameroon

The Head of State assures us that he will not let a fringe group of teachers hold the future of Cameroonian pupils hostage.

In his traditional address to the nation on Sunday December 31, 2023, the President of the Republic spoke of the continuing crisis in the education sector.

Referring to the substantial efforts made by the government, efforts which have been recognized by the social partners, the President of the Republic expressed his concern that Cameroonian schools are being held hostage by a tiny minority of teachers. For Paul Biya, the motivations of these teachers seem to deviate even from their initially stated objectives.

“It will therefore be difficult to accept that our children’s education should continue to be held hostage by a fringe group of teachers, whose real motivations seem to deviate from the stated objectives”, declared President Paul Biya.
Faced with this situation, President Paul Biya assures us that he will be uncompromising in guaranteeing the right to education for young Cameroonians.

“I’d like to be clear about this. As much as I am concerned to see teachers benefit from appropriate conditions for the exercise of their noble profession, I am equally intransigent to ensure respect for the right to education of our youth”, declared Paul Biya.
