Education for all in Cameroon

Plan international is a Non-governmental Organization which operates in the social field. It is based in several countries around the world and particularly in Cameroon. One of the major projects he is currently carrying out in the Yaoundé 2 District concerns the educational sector. It is called Empowerment of the Most Vulnerable through Inclusive Education and Reintegration (FUTURE).

Through his baptismal name, well! all is said. This is a project which aims to send all children, without exception, to school while respecting the gender approach.

Indeed, in the Yaoundé 2 District we encounter cases of school dropouts or non-enrollment linked to several factors at the level of basic education. We can cite, among others, poverty, the influence of culture… These factors, which are not exhaustive, often lead parents not to send their children to school or to make a choice which favors boys over girls, reducing the latter do domestic chores. Which considerably slows down fulfillment or development.

The Plan International Cameroon project intends not only to reintegrate children into the educational and professional system, but also to enable parents to develop income-generating activities in order to be able to send their children to school.

Many actions have already been carried out in this direction over the past year for a project which runs over three years. Without forgetting that another project, going somewhat in the same direction, had been carried out there previously and whose beneficiary children now find themselves in secondary education.

Many activities will be carried out in the near future. In particular, tutoring which consists, for secondary school students in the same forum, of supporting their younger siblings reintegrated into the education system; the plea to the Town Hall of the said district to get involved both in the current project and to ensure the sustainability of this action.

This beautiful masterful lesson is to be assimilated precisely because it comes, not from the public authorities which are nevertheless involved in EFA and SDG4, but from the NGO Plan International Cameroun.

Good luck to Plan, the Coordinator and the entire project team!
